Conferences & Initiatives

NAREA supports the concept of ongoing, permanent professional development for educators. To develop such an attitude, NAREA welcomes the knowledge-building process that is a part of life and requires continual layering of experience, reflection, debate, confusion, awareness, cognition, emotion, action, urgency, and patience. It is the aim of NAREA to promote understanding of the philosophies and experiences of Reggio Emilia, which are based on specific values and principles. The quality of the presenters who interpret these values and principles varies widely. According to Reggio Children, there are some presenters who misinterpret and misrepresent the Reggio educational philosophy. Therefore, inclusion in the list of conferences and initiatives below does not constitute endorsement by Reggio Children or NAREA. NAREA believes that the 0-6 education project of Reggio Emilia has the right to her own identity. As an organization, we pledge to maintain a close professional relationship with the source.

For information on professional development initiatives organized by NAREA, log onto the NAREA and Exhibit Project section of the NAREA website. For information about professional development initiatives organized by Reggio Children, log onto the Study Groups section of the NAREA website.
