Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

The Overfield School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, imaginative teacher for our combined 2nd/3rd grade classroom for the 2022-23 school year. The successful applicant will be well-versed in best practices for teaching elementary-aged children, and passionate about team teaching utilizing inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

The ideal candidate would be interested in teaching in an active, project-based program for young children, and have an image of children as strong, capable, and deserving of having a central voice in their own learning. Must be committed to working both independently and in a team environment, cooperating with co-teachers as well as our atelierista and naturalist.

This position operates on a school year calendar, including paid time off for summer, winter and spring breaks, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is required. Current Ohio teaching license is preferred.

We are looking for a teacher who generously shares ideas, time, talents, and materials, and is committed to helping others achieve their best. Would be required to support the development and implementation of curriculum appropriate to the developmental stages of the children, deciding this with the teaching team.
We are seeking a candidate who adapts the general curriculum to meet the needs of the individual child with concern for his/her interests, special talents, challenges, style and pace of learning, and provides sufficient opportunities for problem solving, both for the individual and the group. We are searching for an educator who treats each child with dignity and respect, accommodating individual differences and working with the individual child when need arises. The ideal applicant would be interested in the arts and nature, and have a willingness to use these as an integrated part of the curriculum.

Salary & Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. Overfield offers health insurance, dental and vision coverage, an HSA and 403b retirement plan with matching funds.
