Program Description

The Neighborhood Cooperative Nursery School is a Reggio-Inspired Parent Cooperative Preschool founded in 1969. Our curriculum is play-based and often emerges from the interests and skill level of the children. We support the development of the whole child, built on a foundation of social and emotional skills.

Our facility includes five large indoor classrooms, a large indoor gross motor space, as well as several beautiful outdoor classroom spaces. We are a community of educators and families who are dedicated to providing a positive, joyful, and enriching first school experience for all of our students. We believe that young children are highly capable and our educators work to plan for daily hands on play based experiences within our inviting and engaging classroom spaces. There is also a focus on nature based learning and we strive to spend time in our outdoor classrooms each day.

We strive to make environmentally-conscious choices in and outside the classroom. To protect students with allergies, we do not allow nuts.

We offer classes for children ages 2.9 to 5+ years and cap our classes at 10 children. In addition, the Neighborhood Cooperative offers “Grow with Me,” a program for children ages 24 – 36 months with a parent or caregiver.

At the Neighborhood Cooperative, we continually evaluate our programs and adapt to the needs of our community. Parents’ involvement, feedback and leadership are crucial to making the school the best it can be!
