The Director provides educational leadership and manages the day-to-day operations of the Growing Place Ocean Park Campus serving up to 81 children aged 2.5 to 5 years old. The Campus Director assumes administrative responsibility for all children’s programs based on the principles of constructivism/Reggio Emilia Approach. The Campus Director solicits support for fundraising efforts, meets overall budget and enrollment goals, fosters long-term relationships in the community and solicits broad support for the Growing Place. The Campus Director maintains accurate records of all program components with the support of an office manager. The Campus Director works collaboratively and fosters a positive team environment for teachers, staff, and parents. The Campus Director reports directly to the Executive Director.

Duties include:

FOR STAFF
Serve as an educational leader who implements and evaluates high-quality ECE
Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to all personnel
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel
Provide bi-annual performance evaluations for all personnel
Oversee the writing, and submission of written communication by staff. Communications may include preschool evaluation forms, developmental summaries, pedagogical documentation, etc.
Model appropriate techniques for working with children, parents, and colleagues
Support teachers in their overall work with children and parents

FOR PARENTS
Work closely with various Parent Committees providing direction, guidance, and support for activities, events, and volunteer commitments
Encourage and solicit parent participation throughout the school community
Establish collaborative partnerships with parents
Support parents with outside resources to support children’s development, as needed
Participate in parent conferences
Plan and facilitate events that build community, cultivate a deeper understanding of our approach to working with young children

ADMINISTRATIVE
Facilitate enrollment process: tour prospective parents, parent orientation, monitor and maintain applicant pool to ensure full enrollment on an ongoing basis
Plan staff schedule based on current and upcoming enrollment and to ensure schedules accommodate school-wide meetings, team meetings, teacher meetings etc.
Assure compliance with regulatory bodies
Administer budget, approve and monitor expenditures
Compile information with data and prepare a variety of reports
Implement successful fundraising strategies

OTHER
Support the mission of the school
Abide by and uphold the established policies and procedures of the school
Communicate with members of the school community openly, directly, promptly, and constructively
Model appropriate ethical behavior for children, families, and colleagues. Exemplify a caring, respectful and honest attitude
Use appropriate channels for problem solving and communication
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
Knowledge and experience with social-constructivism, the Reggio Approach, and RIE
Devotion to lifelong learning and on-going professional development
Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
Ability to develop and implement long-range operation and educational goals of the program
A commitment to collaborative decision-making and information sharing

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Sedentary desk tasks
Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
Prolonged standing and walking
Ability to reach and move children quickly in the event of an emergency

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

A Master’s Degree in Child Development/ECE (or a related field) with a minimum of two years of experience working in an ECE setting
OR

A Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development/ECE with a minimum of ten years experience working in ECE setting
Theoretical understanding and experience with ages 0-3 years; completion of infant/toddler coursework
CPR/First Aid Certified Skills
Competent with Mac office suites
Excellent written and spoken communication
