Who We Are:
Cobb Childcare & Preschool employees are a dedicated team of individuals who understand the critical role they play in shaping the future of the children we care for. In September 2019, we took the leap from traditional daycare to a child-centered, emergent approach under the experienced guidance of our new Executive Director- we haven’t looked back! We pride ourselves in being partners with our families, champions of students, and most importantly, our primary role is to learn alongside our students. As lifelong learners, we immerse ourselves in learning- through ongoing professional development, exploration, and constant inquiry. We learn best by doing, and we think deeply about preparing meaningful environments for children. We authentically enjoy and respect each other and always support each other- we’ve worked hard to get here!

Who You Are:
You are fascinated by the philosophical approaches to child development, and you can’t wait to build on the magic that is happening daily in the center! You are a believer in social-emotional learning, embrace mindfulness and understand that emotional regulation comes before handwriting- all. day. long. You see this role as the important career it is, and know that your work will have a lasting impact on each child’s success. You genuinely enjoy people, and are able to nurture relationships while also coaching your team to greatness. You have a respectful relationship with policies and procedure, but don’t believe in rules just for the sake of rules. When developing systems and processes, you think deeply about the “why” and always provide the “why” when rolling out a new process. The successful candidate has a firm grasp on an emergent approach to early education and can connect the dots for stakeholders. You are not afraid of a challenge, and the idea of taking a fledgling non-profit center into greatness excites you- a lot.

This role is not an entry level position, and the successful candidate will need to hit the ground running- our director will need to be comfortable with billing, policy, Oregon licensing requirements. The director will receive daily support and training during the transition, but it will be expected that you will be able to take full ownership of the school within 90 days, and be willing to make it your own. We are proud to be Douglas County’s only Reggio inspired center, and while our work has just begun, we intend on giving the children of Douglas County a rigorous and meaningful start.
