Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

This full-time teaching position will begin in August 2021 with a class of 14 two to three-year-old students.

The lead teacher, along with an assistant teacher, is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional and experiential learning program consistent with our play-based, Reggio Emilia inspired approach to education. The lead teacher is responsible for creating a warm and nurturing environment that stimulates curiosity, builds community, cultivates creativity and supports learning and development of the whole child through a thoughtfully planned environment, shared experiences, and project work.

The successful candidate will
Have thorough knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice;
Embrace the philosophy of the Reggio Emilia Approach and have experience teaching using the Project Approach;
Possess strong communication skills with the ability to “make learning visible”
Value collaboration with colleagues and families;
Seek continual professional growth through reflection and professional development; and
Believe in and work to uphold Pembroke Hill School’s mission and promise to our families.

This is a contracted position with a school year schedule and an opportunity to work summer camps.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience of children aged two through five years-old.
Previous experience with the project approach or Reggio Emilia is preferred.
