Educator – Early Childhood Education

Location:

Crescent Park Child Development Center/Palo Alto, CA

Start Date: September 13, 2021

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

Crescent Park is an innovative, Reggio-inspired, play-based early childhood education program for children (two to five years) and families of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. Well known for it’s magical environments and neighborhood feel, children of diverse backgrounds ages 2 to 6 years are valued for their strong identity as enterprising citizens with the knowledge, confidence and a sense of responsibility influenced by their words and actions over the course of each day.

Families of Crescent Park partner with the school to provide a high-quality, progressive approach to education. We use a unique approach with an indoor/outdoor flow, where the educators are stationary and the children flow naturally through the spaces. Not only are children granted the opportunity to explore their environment freely, but this flow gives educators the opportunity to build a unique culture within the various rooms: the Construction Lab, Outdoor Classroom, Art Studio, alongside the support of their co-teachers.

Children are provided the autonomy to make their own decisions about how to spend their day with the support of educators who are responsive, thoughtful and reflective. In this framework, we find that older children display leadership skills showing respect and compassion for younger ones, while younger children adore and emulate their mentors.

In a learning environment that provides for long periods of uninterrupted play within a culture of deep reflective practice, Crescent Park emerges as a strong advocate for innovative education in the early childhood community serving children, families and educators alike for over 20 years.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Interested candidates should be self-starters who value collaboration, innovative thinking, a passion for working with children, belief in the strong image of the child, and who are eager to partner with us in cultivating an intentional learning community.
