Lead Teacher

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

We are seeking a full-time teacher with at least an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Full-time teachers work Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00pm with time in the morning and afternoon (without children present) to check in with your team, and time scheduled out of the classroom several times during the week to meet, plan, reflect and collaborate with colleagues.

Responsibilities:
-In conjunction with the teaching team, plan and implement a Reggio-inspired emergent curriculum based on observations of the children and their interests, that promotes children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development and learning

-Provide children with developmentally appropriate guidance and boundaries that promote children’s self-regulation, self-esteem and positive, respectful relationships with others

-In conjunction with the teaching team, create and maintain an environment that supports children’s learning and independent exploration and ability to be a part of a group.

-Develop positive relationships with families and encouraging parent involvement

-Learn alongside children and colleagues, deepening their own practice and offering regular feedback to others as part of a culture of reflection, growth and learning.

-Reflect regularly with the teaching team, supervisor, colleagues, and other support staff as available on the social emotional climate of the classroom, and make adjustments as needed to support the social emotional well-being of all children in the room.

-Attend all-Prouty staff meetings (once a month) and participate in “cross-classroom meetings” with colleagues as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum 21 college credits in early childhood education, child development, or related field. A Bachelor’s degree, and experience in Reggio Emilia or emergent curriculum model preferred.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: Minimum $18.00/hour but could be more dependent upon qualifications.

Program Description

Founded in 1969, the Winston Prouty Center provides inclusive education and support to promote the success of children and families. Our 5-STAR Early Learning Center (ELC) is licensed to serve 55 children ages 6 weeks – 5 years. The ELC is an inclusive program influenced by a range of research in the field including the work being done in Reggio Emilia, the work of Magda Gerber/Emmi Pickler/RIE, Early MTSS, CSEFEL Pyramid Model, and Brazelton Touchpoints.
