General Purpose and Function:
The Preschool Assistant Teacher exudes warmth, energy, and enthusiasm. A positive role model, s/he exhibits perseverance and a love of learning. S/he supports an inclusive, engaging, safe, caring learning community in the classroom. Through differentiated and effective instruction, constructive feedback, and assessment, s/he intentionally works to contribute to the learning and progress of every student. S/he supports the facilitation of a partnership with parents and others to forward a student’s progress. S/he works closely with colleagues to plan, enact, assess, and document curriculum and instruction.
This is a full-time position. During the school year, the Preschool Assistant teacher will be expected to be on campus Monday–Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Support the planning, conducting, assessing and diagnosing, evaluating, and refining of lessons based on school mission, school and discipline-specific goals, grade-level-specific objectives, essential understandings, and NAEYC best practices
Take initiative in the classroom to promote and guide students’ inquiry and developing curricula around student interest
Support differentiated instructional methods based on class and student assessments, school-wide initiatives, technological advances, and research
Support the cultivation of strong student and parent relationships characterized by open communication, frequent feedback, and responsiveness, specifically assisting in the documentation used in support of Seesaw.
Maintain trust and relationships with, and contribute meaningfully to, collaborative work teams, with the larger goal of achieving student growth outcomes and fostering an inclusive community
Be receptive to guidance and supervision provided in collaboration with the lead teacher(s), division director, and school leadership
Perform assigned duties with respect shown to individual members and the school community as a whole, doing their own part to foster inclusivity.
