Newtowne School is a Reggio-Inspired parent cooperative preschool located in Harvard Square. We are founded in the belief that children find meaning and joy through play. Our experienced teachers create a nurturing play-based learning environment that facilitates this journey. Teachers work in true partnership with parents (who share the responsibilities for daily assistance in the classroom) to understand and support each child. Newtowne has 4 classrooms that serve children ages 2 to 5 years with a staff of eight classroom teachers, an all-school Art teacher (Atelierista), a full-time Float Teacher and a Director. The school operates on an academic school year and offers an optional summer session. The early childhood position is full time during the academic year. Joining the summer session staff is optional.
Newtowne is striving to be a cooperative that reflects the neighborhoods and cities in which we live. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds, including men and people of color, to apply. We know that our school is stronger and more connected when we recognize and value the diversity of the myriad backgrounds and perspectives in our community. Newtowne aims to cultivate understanding and empathy through acknowledging, respecting and honoring the differences of all. Newtowne School is proudly an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
