Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

The Compass School of Ashburn is seeking a School Director to work as part of the three-person administrative team in overseeing all aspects of school operations. A primary focus of the School Director is to provide support, encouragement, and guidance to teachers in carrying out the school’s Reggio-inspired, project-based curriculum. The School Director will seek to facilitate curriculum discussion, exchange ideas, build cohesiveness and teamwork, and enhance the school’s programming in support of children and families.

The School Director will lead the administrative team in fulfilling the overall administrative responsibilities required to run an efficient and high-quality early childhood education program and child care center. Responsibilities will include scheduling, communication, touring prospective parents, customer service, reporting, training, managing staff, interviewing, hiring, marketing, record keeping, account management, compliance, communication, budgeting, and all other responsibilities that the administrative team shares in order to effectively meet the needs of the school community.

The Compass School employs a project-based philosophy, modeled after the Reggio, Emilia approach to early childhood education. The school offers Infant, Toddler, Two’s, Preschool, and Before & After school programs, as well as Summer Camp. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Position requires: College degree (with major or minor in ECE , Elementary Education or related field), required coursework needed to meet licensing standards for a preschool administrator in the state of Virginia, teaching and supervisory experience in early childhood education (preference given to 3 years + experience), knowledge of (and belief in) the Reggio-Inspired philosophy, customer service savvy, flexibility, a strong desire to participate in the growth of our school, a passion for working with children, and an enthusiastic, hard-working approach.
