Part-Time Associate Teacher
Multiage Pre-K
2018-2019 School Year

Brooklyn Schoolhouse, a new progressive one-room-schoolhouse in Clinton Hill, is seeking to hire an Associate Teacher for our Multiage Pre-K, for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year.

Associate Teachers are an important and valued part of our staff. While the Associate Teacher is in a supportive role to the Lead Teacher, s/he is also supported and mentored by the Lead Teacher, the Education Director and the Director. The Associate Teacher is expected to nurture and guide children with warmth and patience. We ask all teachers to embrace the mentorship of the Education Director and Director, and have a commitment to growing as a teacher consistently with Brooklyn Schoolhouse’s approach to education.

In addition to assisting the Lead Teacher in the day-to-day operations of the classroom and curriculum development, the Associate Teacher will also be responsible for:
-attending and contributing to weekly Team Meetings and Staff Meetings
-assisting in classroom setup and cleanup each day
-assisting in cleaning the school’s entryway before the families arrive each morning
-assisting in developing the curriculum and producing documentation
-writing entries in the class’s blog
-assisting in preparing and running parent­ teacher conferences
-presenting to parents, with the teaching team, on curriculum night

SCHEDULE
Part Time Position: 8:00­-2:30, Monday through Friday. A thirty-minute lunch break will be given each day. An additional 45-minute Team Meeting will be scheduled by the team.

– The teachers stay one day after classes finish in the end of May to help clean the classroom and prepare it for the Summer Program.
