Innovations the official periodical of NAREA

Innovations in Early Education: The International Reggio Exchange is a quarterly periodical that focuses on the educational philosophy of the Reggio Emilia municipal infant-toddler centers and preschools. Innovations has been published by Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan since 1992 and in 2003, it became the official periodical of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) and a benefit of NAREA membership. Judith Allen Kaminsky is the Editor of Innovations and a Founding Board Member of NAREA. Lella Gandini, the Reggio Children Liaison in the U.S. for the Dissemination of the Reggio Approach, is the Associate Editor of Innovations, and the editorial board includes early childhood educators from Reggio Emilia and North America.

From an agreement by Loris Malaguzzi in concert with Eli Saltz in 1992. Collaboration and consulting with Reggio Children and the Istituzione Scuole Nidi d'Infanzia, Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Supported by Amelia Gambetti and Paola Riccò, Reggio Children International Network Exchanges.

Each issue features articles and interviews by Italian and North American early childhood educators whose work has been inspired by the experience of the Reggio municipal early childhood program. Subscribers learn about the experiences of North American educators who are in dialogue with Reggio educators and how this dialogue has influenced their work with children, families and educators in their own contexts. Innovations readers discover how educators in North America have developed a better understanding of the learning processes of children and adults through their study of the Reggio philosophy.

Innovations features a column focused on the work of NAREA and written by NAREA members. Each issue also includes a Reggio-related conference calendar, "The Wonder of Learning - The Hundred Languages of Children" exhibit schedule, and information about study tours to Reggio Emilia. Also featured in every issue is information about new print and video resources related to the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy as well as organizational contacts for more comprehensive bibliographies.

Innovations offers its readers the opportunity to engage in an international dialogue focused on enhancing the lives of children through educational-social systems. Reggio-inspired early childhood educators are invited to submit articles for publication in Innovations. Download Innovations Publication Guidelines for further information or contact the editor,
