Season’s Schoolhouse, a non-profit preschool serving children ages 2.5-6 years of age in Gunnison, Colorado is seeking a full-time director. This directorship is hands-on, with the candidate spending part of their day working in the classroom with students in addition to their duties as director. The position is responsible for direct supervision of teaching aides/staff, management of day to day operations, communication with parents, and collaborating with lead teachers on curriculum development. The director reports to a governing board chiefly consisting of current or former parents of students at Seasons Schoolhouse.
BACKGROUND:
Seasons Schoolhouse operates year round in rural Gunnison, Colorado; the town is home to Western State Colorado University and boasts access to world class outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, kayaking, hunting/fishing, and skiing! Seasons is not your typical preschool – we operate as an experiential, play-based, mixed ages schoolhouse. Social-emotional development via the pyramid plus method, along with the child\’s environment, alongside play, is at the core of our curriculum. We will soon be incorporating documentation and long term projects. Parents are part of the community of the school, and play a large role within the structure and function of the school. The children of Season\’s Schoolhouse play a vital role in the local community, bring to light the image of the child, through being present and known in the local community. Throughout the year, the director, teachers and children participate in random acts of kindness, field trips, and fundraising. Seasons Schoolhouse is a truly exceptional program to be part of.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
– Must meet State of Colorado child care center director qualifications (http://www.coloradoofficeofearlychildhood.com/#!director-qualifications/c15f)
– Strong communication skills (demonstrated)
– Strong leadership skills
– Basic computer skills (email, calendaring, etc.)
– Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
– Currently recognized by the State of Colorado as a verified child care center director (please provide proof via copy of \”Official Large Center Director Qualification Verification Letter”)
– Early Childhood Professional Credential Level IV or higher
– Undergraduate or Graduate degree in early childhood development or related field
– Grant writing and/or fundraising experience
– Experience with the play-based approach, Hawkins theories of learning, collaboration, pyramid plus, work jobs, nature based learning, Reggio Emilia, and/or early learning and development guidelines a plus.
– Familiar with and interested in pursuing a \”Colorado Shines\” level 2-5 rating
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
– Candidate must work early morning and/or late evening shifts(7:15 opening and/or 6:00 pm closing)

Start Date is Asap and negotioable
$40-50K/YR BASED-ON EXPERIENCE
