Families Together Cooperative Nursery School (www.ftcns.org) seeks a dynamic early childhood educator to work as a co-teacher in our play-based classrooms with preschool children ages 2.5 – 5, beginning in late August, 2016.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is: a great collaborator; an excellent verbal and written communicator; a skilled observer and facilitator of children’s social-emotional development; an enthusiastic and self-reflective adult learner; a thoughtful and creative curriculum developer; and a joyful, loving, hard-working, and patient presence in a classroom setting.
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: facilitating play in the classroom using developmentally appropriate activities that enhance the cognitive, social, emotional and physical development of children; collaborating with a co-teacher to develop engaging, hands-on activities through an emergent approach to curriculum; working with parent volunteers in the classroom; regularly communicating extensively with our parent community both verbally and in writing; ongoing documentation of student learning utilizing various technologies; participating in school events such as open houses, fundraisers, and community celebrations.
The qualified candidate should:
be comfortable singing and leading children in song;
be able to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and crouch, kneel, stoop or crawl with ease;
be proficient using Google Docs, Gmail, Evernote, and MS Office;
be skilled at using personal digital device to take, upload, and organize photographs;
have preschool teaching experience and a Bachelors Degree with at least eighteen (18) credit hours of Early Childhood Education/Child Development coursework. Masters Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
