Bilingual Mandarin/English Governess & Early Childhood Educator — Private Family

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties
A multicultural Bay Area family seeks a warm, intellectually curious bilingual educator and governess for three children under four, in a long-term full-time role combining genuine Reggio-inspired education with attentive daily care. We travel domestically every month and internationally several times a year — each new culture and environment becomes part of the children’s learning experience. The role offers full curriculum autonomy, a 1:1 setting, and the freedom to design a project-based, child-led learning environment in ways rarely possible in a school context. The family is also exploring the longer-term possibility of building a small Mandarin-immersion microschool.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- Native Mandarin speaker with fluent professional-level English.
- Background in early childhood education, with experience or strong familiarity with Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or project-based approaches.
- Comfortable as sole-charge educator and caregiver during extended domestic and international travel.
- US citizen or permanent resident (W-2).
- Valid driver’s license.
Salary & Benefits
- $120,000–$150,000 annually depending on experience.
- W-2 employment.
- All travel expenses covered.
- Relocation assistance available for candidates outside the Bay Area.
- Paid vacation and sick leave.
