We are looking for a Director of Nursery School whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversee the daily operation of the school including the hiring and managing of staff
• Collaborate with teachers to plan and organize developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Maintain a visible presence and act as a liaison between families, church and staff
• Spend time in the classroom working with and observing the children and teachers
• Provide opportunities for team building and collaborative work
• Recognize and develop experiences where relationships can be built
• Work to organize annual fundraising and development opportunities with the parent community and community at large
• Create and maintain a budget
• Organize and implement professional development with teachers, staff and parents
• Provide and offer parent support and discussions about parenting and child development
• Promote community outreach by becoming involved in relevant organizations and educational programs
• Select children and their families to be part of the school community
• Promote and support a strong parent association
• Assure compliance with applicable state and county codes and regulations
• Assure compliance with all State Licensing Child Care regulations
Only qualified candidates with a minimum of 5 years experience in a Reggio inspired environment need apply. Applicants should have proven leadership capability and supervisory/management experience.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.

First Presbyterian Nursery School of Santa Monica is a Reggio inspired preschool.
It is located one block from both the ocean palisades and the city’s small business and retail center. The school has had three directors since its establishment by the church in 1959. First Presbyterian Nursery School continues its tradition of providing a community of children, teachers and parents committed to supporting each other in raising creative, thinking, loving children who know their immeasurable worth and are able to utilize their gifts and potential.
First Presbyterian Nursery School celebrates a diverse community of more than 100 families from all faiths. The school shares space with the church, which oversees the school’s 38 staff and budgeting. The church supports the school’s non-sectarian programming and offers a weekly children’s program for school families who wish to participate.
