Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

Rye Presbyterian Nursery School, located in the heart of Rye, New York, is accepting applications for talented early childhood educators. As a progressive preschool, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we provide a play-based program. As we listen to children’s ideas, we build our curriculum. We work collaboratively with children to create long term projects and investigations around these ideas–delving deeper into what interests children. We integrate our goals for each child into our studies, so every child is nurtured, supported, and challenged.

Our faculty co-teaches in an environment that believes children are curious and competent and that the children are capable of playing an active and integral role in their own learning process. It is important that our teachers view themselves a life-long learners who enjoy challenging themselves and growing professionally.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications
– B.A. in education or a related field required, Masters Degree preferred
– Experience working with young children.
– Strong writing and communication skills
– Proficient in many “languages” of expression used in the early childhood classroom
– Warm and nurturing character that supports their ability to connect with young children and their families
– Maintain documentation of classroom projects and children’s development
– Demonstrate knowledge of child development and learning goals are integrated within a child-centered curriculum
– Positive attitude and eager to work collaboratively with co-teacher and colleagues

Salary & Benefits

Salary is based on Experience.
