Lead Preschool Facilitator

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties
Physical Environment:
- To assist in the maintenance of the physical environment so that it conforms to the standards set by the Colorado Department of Human Services licensing for a Large Child Care Center
- To assist in the operation of a center that provides for safety, well-being, and optimal growth
- Sees the environment as the third teacher
- Helps to create beautiful spaces
Planning, Preparation, and Instruction:
- Establish a positive classroom environment in which all involved areas (classroom environment, fellow staff, and students) are treated with respect
- Model positive conflict resolution and problem-solving strategies
- Create a learning environment that supports the cognitive, emotional, and social growth of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
- Design and implement lessons and activities that meet the needs of each child
- Work with children with various abilities and needs
- Use various assessment tools to measure growth
- Reflect and revise teaching practices
- Document daily learning
Family Partnerships
- Establish a positive relationship with families
- Maintain daily communication with families
- Facilitate parent/teacher conferences
Teaching Team
- Attend regular staff meetings an in-service trainings
- Collaborate with other teachers to plan and carry out projects when appropriate
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuing education (15 hours per year, minimum)
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Employees/candidates for a Classroom Teacher must have one of the following:
A two-year associate’s degree with coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
OR
A four-year degree with Early Childhood Education classwork preferred
OR
One full-time year (1,820 hours) of satisfactory work experience in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, supervising 4+ children under the age of 6 years old who are not related to the individual
OR
Current certification as a Child Development Associate or certified Child Care Professional or other Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) approved credential
SFLC is willing to assist the right candidate in obtaining the above qualifications within the first two years of employment.
Preferred candidates for Lead Classroom Teacher will demonstrate the ability to:
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all families and teachers
- Follow licensing rules and regulations
- Help in the implementation of dynamic, developmentally appropriate curricula
- Be a collaborator and inspiration to the program team
- Help with classroom and environmental designs
- Help with child-centered community events, parent check-ins, discovery nights, and fundraisers
- Be a responsive professional
- Have a warm rapport with co-workers and teachers
- A desire to learn, evolve, and lead within the context of an integral, growing, and learning community
- A commitment to child-centered learning
- Caring and respectful relationships among children, teachers, and families
- An understanding of the essential role of the environment and materials in the creation and expression of children’s thinking and understanding of their world
- Collaborative and team-oriented work ethic
- Strategic, flexible, and creative thinking
- Strong problem-solving skills and a positive attitude
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Salary & Benefits
Salary and benefits are dependent on schedule, experience, and fit;
The starting Salary for a full-time lead teacher is = $35,714
- Childcare/tuition fee waivers
- Schedule following the public school schedule, with 5 weeks paid time off included worked into salary.
