Established in 1984, SHED Children’s Campus is a grassroots, non-profit organization located in Andover, MA, on the beautiful grounds of Phillips Academy, offering year round enrichment programs for children and youth ages 2.9-15 years. Our philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach where emphasis is placed respect, responsibility, and community.
Ideal candidates should have experience working with young children in a Reggio Emilia inspired environment, and share in our commitment to continued professional development. We are especially seeking individuals who are familiar with organic gardening, mindfulness, and outdoor education. Flexibility, commitment, and willingness to learn are essential characteristics.
Key responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with other educators to plan a Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum and activities
• Set up and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 2.9-5
Monarch Preschool runs a 2-day program for 3 year olds, and 3 and 4-day programs for 4 year olds. All positions have competitive salary and benefits.
CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:
• A DEGREE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, OR RELATED FIELD
• AN EEC CERTIFICATION
• EXPERIENCE WITH AN EMERGENT CURRICULUM MODEL
• TRAINING IN THE REGGIO EMILIA APPROACH INCLUDING ENVIRONMENT AS THIRD TEACHER, DOCUMENTATION, AND INTEGRATED ASSESSMENTS
• COMMITMENT TO LIFE-LONG LEARNING IN A COLLABORATIVE SETTING
• UNDERSTANDING OF DEVELOPMENTALLY-APPROPRIATE PRACTICES AND MINDFUL OBSERVATIONS
