Winston Prouty Early Learning Center | Brattleboro, VT
Start Date: June 29, 2026
We are looking for a lead teacher with minimum qualifications of an Associate’s Degree to work as part of our toddler team.
We are a Reggio-Inspired program that uses emergent curriculum to plan for the children’s time in our program.
Hours are full-time 7:30-4, 5 days/week. Children arrive at 8 and leave at 3:30 (so each team has an hour of paid time each day to connect, set up the room, and debrief without children).
8 children currently enrolled with 2 teachers (and a third who is designated at certain times of day to allow full-time teachers to plan, do documentation, and connect with colleagues throughout the week).
Minimum of an Associate’s degree or 21 college credits in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Strong preference for people with experience with the Reggio Philosophy, although we will also consider candidates who are willing and eager to be intentional in their teaching, and reflect on their practice with colleagues and adapt as necessary to help create an enjoyable, calm, creative, and joyful learning environment for all of the children and families.
Our range for lead teachers starts at $20 but could be more depending on qualifications and experience. We are a year-round program, with a “summer camp” model (designed by teachers) from July-August.
We offer health insurance, generous PTO, and retirement contributions.
Please send your resume, a cover letter and three references to Kim Simeon ksimeon@wintonprouty.org and Honor Bishop Merrill

We are an inclusive program that offers early care and education for children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years of age, on a 38 acre campus with trails and an a pond. We believe that children are capable, competent, and born ready to learn.
We believe that children learn through play and relationships (with adults, peers, the environment, and the materials they encounter).
Our approach is rooted in respectful, responsive, reflective, and relationship-based care. We strive to create environments that incorporate natural materials, and reduce sensory overload, so that children can remain focused on their interests and play. We use observations as a primary part of our planning process.
We are part of the larger Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development, whose mission is to support children and families in the Brattleboro area. This includes nursing services, EI services, support in finding housing, an on-site family shelter, and much more. Our monthly staff meetings include people from across the organization, where we come together to connect about the broader work.
