We are seeking a dynamic and experienced learning coach for our self-directed lower elementary classroom. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating children and a commitment to supporting student-led learning. Experience with classical curriculum, Reggio Emilia and/or Montessori a plus. This position is in-person.
Responsibilities:
* Provide individual and small-group coaching to students 6-8 years old to support their learning and growth with various self-paced curriculum and child-led projects
* Facilitate project-based learning and support students in setting and achieving their academic and personal goals
* Collaborate with students, teachers, and families to assess student progress and develop learning plans that address individual needs
* Mentor and support students in developing essential skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and self-reflection, curiosity, and joy in learning
* Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to take ownership of their education
Requirements:
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. A degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field is preferred
* At least 2 years of experience in a student-centered learning environment
* Strong coaching and mentoring skills
* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Passion for education and a growth mindset
We are a self-directed 1-2nd grade classroom that empowers students to take control of their learning and reach their full potential. Our mission is to provide students with an engaging and personalized education experience that prepares them for success in a rapidly changing world.
Job Type: Full or part time will be considered
Salary: $55,000 per year for full time

The Village Electric is a non-profit homeschool learning center in Mountainside NJ, serving children from ages 3-12. We blend an established homeschool curriculum, online and experiential learning, open-ended free time, and enrichment classes in a multi-age environment.
