Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Teach children age 6-weeks through five years and mentor undergraduate students in the Early Childhood Education Program. Document the classroom for the purposes of curriculum planning, professional development, and advocating for children. Communicate, engage and conference with parents. Mentor student teachers in the context of the classroom, planning, assessment, working with program faculty and staff to implement program requirements. Collaborate on enrollments and records for the classroom and contribute to the school’s philosophy and pedagogy.Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and one or more years related experience required. Experience teaching/working in an early childhood program and knowledge of child development from birth-5 years of age required. Current Vermont State Teacher Certification with an endorsement in EC, ElEd, or ECSP, or ability to obtain license and endorsement within one year is required. Red Cross certification required, or the ability to obtain.

Experience working with diverse populations, children with special needs and student interns. An understanding of pedagogy used in schools in Reggio Emilia is desirable.
