Pedagogy & Curriculum Coordinator

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

Brillante’s Pedagogy & Curriculum Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Strengthening and putting into action a program-wide vision for curriculum and pedagogy;
  • Supporting educators to implement curriculum and pedagogical practices and design purposeful learning environments;
  • Supporting the teaching teams in developing and implementing systems for listening, observation, documentation, reflection, inquiry, and curriculum development;
  • Planning and facilitating professional learning in collaboration with the program director;
  • Working with other Explora teams and community partners to define and implement STEAM-rich, museum-based learning experiences in Brillante classrooms;
  • Representing Brillante and Explora in the wider community;
  • Supporting program operations, including subbing sometimes in the classroom;
  • Helping to align this work with state licensing, accreditation, and grant requirements; and
  • Other projects based on qualifications of the candidate such as DEI work, community and family engagement and resources, lab school coordination, and workforce development.

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood or relevant area of study;
  • 3 or more years of early childhood classroom experience;
  • Knowledge of child development, pedagogical theory, and developmentally-appropriate practices, experience with the Reggio Emilia Approach, and an expressed interest in STEAM learning;
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple forms of documentation to make children’s learning visible for multiple audiences (e.g., classroom-based portfolio practice, family and community engagement, professional development, advocacy);
  • Experience facilitating adult learning and collaborative processes;
  • Sensitivity with children and families who represent a wide range of social and socio-economic identities and the ability to work well in culturally-diverse settings with knowledge of local populations served;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, patience, and tact when communicating with children, families, colleagues, and community partners;
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills and attention to detail;
  • Comfortable using online collaboration tools (e.g., GoogleSuite, child care management systems, Milanote); and\
  • Bilingual–English/Spanish–preferred.

 

Salary & Benefits

FLSA status: Full-time (40 hours per week), salaried, exempt

Compensation: Starting at $55,000/year with 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums and additional benefits including retirement (value of additional 30%), based on qualifications

Program Description

Be a founding leader of Brillante Early Learning Center at Explora, a new and growing, community-based preschool and child care program currently located inside Explora Science Center & Children’s Museum. The Pedagogical Coordinator will be responsible for supporting curriculum and pedagogy development and implementation alongside our students, teachers, and families and play a pivotal role in building Brillante’s culture, systems, and practice.
