Reggio-Inspired Elementary Afternoon/Evening Teacher

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties
Private family seeks a caring, growth-minded teacher to tutor a TK child. Partner with the family to create nurturing, playful, and inquiry-based learning environments responsive to the child’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs. The teacher will encourage the child to play, investigate, problem-solve, innovate, and construct new understandings in a positive environment. The teacher will plan for and support the child’s growth and development by observing, evaluating, leading learning experiences and project work that builds on the child’s interests, motivations, and wonderings.
- Research topics and develop a weekly curriculum. Advise the family of material needs.
- Teach kindergarten preparation through projects and/or play. This includes writing, art, music, math, and reading.
- Two to three times a week, one to two hours per session. Strong preference for MWF at 5:30pm but flexible for exceptional candidate. Additional hour for weekly lesson planning. Please provide list of materials needed in advance to the family.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- Strong preference for elementary teaching credentials.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years elementary teaching experience is preferred.
- Educated on different elementary teaching methods utilized by private and public elementary schools
- Embrace the philosophy of the Reggio Emilia Approach and Project Approach and a commitment to constructivism or progressive/experiential education. Previous experience is a strong plus.
- Flexible start date for exceptional candidate. Potential for flexible start time in the summer.
Salary & Benefits
Competitive hourly rate, depends on experience.
