Description, Responsibilities, & Duties

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Zimmer School is seeking experienced and nurturing teachers for our Toddler and Kindergarten classes. Based on the educational philosophy of Reggio Emilia and Jewish values, our school is a respectful and evocative learning environment that promotes opportunities for creative thinking, skill-building and meaningful relationships. We work collaboratively with children to create long term projects and investigations around their ideas. We integrate our goals for each child into our studies, so every child is nurtured, supported, and challenged.

In addition to a BA in ECE or related field and and/or at least 3 years of quality early childhood experience, candidates should have:
– A keen understanding of child development, knowledge of social constructivism and/or Reggio approach
– Ability to think creatively about ideas, materials and spaces
– A warm, nurturing character that easily connects to children and their families
– Organized, flexible, empathetic and collaborative
– Strong writing and communication skills; ability to document children’s learning
– Appreciation of nature, to fluidly incorporate our Outdoor Classroom
– Kindergarten teacher must be certified and have experience teaching all content areas based on NJ Core Content Standards in hands-on, developmentally appropriate methods, and weaving them together in an interdisciplinary manner
