Consuelo Damasi, atelierista

Since 1999, Consuelo Damasi has been working in the role of atelierista, a teacher with a specialization in the languages of the atelier, for the Preschools and Infant-toddler Centers – Istituzione of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia. Consuelo worked for several years in the Iqbal Masih municipal preschool and is currently working in the Andersen municipal preschool.

In 1991, Consuelo received her diploma in applied arts from Reggio Emilia's G. Chierici Art Institute high school. In 1997, she received her diploma of higher culture from Bologna's Fine Arts Academy in the school of painting. She has collaborated with pedagogistas, educators, and atelieristas on the concept, realization, and management of the city ateliers at the Loris Malaguzzi International Center. Consuelo has collaborated on journeys of professional learning on the theme of continuity with the primary school and on the language of photography for teachers in various levels of school in Italy.

Paola Strozzi, pedagogista

Paola Strozzi, Pedagogista, Pedagogical Coordination of the Preschools and Infant-toddler Centers – Istituzione of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, from 2007 to 2018. For Reggio Children she collaborates on publishing projects and professional learning journeys through participating in seminars and workshops in Italy and overseas. After gaining a diploma as a Primary teacher in Reggio Emilia in 1972, she attended the School of Social Services in Florence from 1973 -1975. In 2007 she graduated in Sciences of Primary Education at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

From 1976 to 1980, she was a teacher in Reggio Emilia’s Arcobaleno municipal Infant-toddler center. From 1980 to 1999, she was a teacher in the Diana”municipal preschool, and from 1999 - 2003, she was a support teacher in the same school. From 2004 to 2006, she worked at the Documentation and Educational Research Centre of the Preschools and Infant-toddler centres, Istituzione of the municipality of Reggio Emilia. She has coordinated and curated several educational and professional development projects in the Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres, Istituzione of the municipality of Reggio Emilia, and for Reggio Children.

By becoming a member at the rate of $40 (retired), $45 (school associate), or $100 (participant), registrants receive $100 conference discount and additional benefits throughout the membership year. Please review our membership benefits & pricing page for more information.

Schedule

The program varies from conference to conference. Typical features may include presentations and reflections by noted representatives from Reggio Emilia and/or North America, visits to the Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material (Mosaics) exhibition + atelier, school visits, interactive ateliers, small group discussions, and local cultural experiences. A detailed schedule will go out to participants in a logistics email one week before the conference begins.

Cost Info

Important Note:

If you are an educator in Vermont, you might be eligible to attend at reduced or no cost through grant funding from the State of Vermont Child Development Division. You must apply through the CDD application to be eligible. Registering directly through the NAREA website will charge the full registration fee. The CDD application will be open from February 18-March 11, 2026. Please contact jessica.burns@vermont.gov for details.

All fees are in U.S. dollars. Full payment must be received to secure space.
Written request for refunds must be submitted by June 13, 2026 to the NAREA office via e-mail.
There will be a $50 processing fee to cancel your registration.

Lodging

Hotel accommodations are NOT included in the registration fee.
Participants will find many hotels near the conference venue on various travel websites.

About the City

Located Northeast of Burlington, Winooski is a walkable city with a close connection to nature. With a history in industrial textile milling, the city has been reformed into a bustling urban center with plenty of small businesses and restaurants. Winooski is adjacent to the Winooski River and Winooski Falls and full of beautiful trails, parks, and recreation areas. Local community comes together regularly for the Farmers Market, music festivals, and art walks. Look just across the river to Burlington for even more options for dining and culture.
