The 5th NAREA Fall Conference

Welcome Letter

Transforming Early Childhood Education: Creating a Culture of Welcoming

Welcome to the 5th NAREA Fall Conference, “Transforming Early Childhood Education: Creating a Culture of Welcoming.” We are thrilled to have you join us for this inspiring event, whether you are a new educator, exploring new environments, or returning after some time away. NAREA’s dedication to providing professional development opportunities has impacted over 250,000 educators, families, advocates, policymakers, and community members across North America.

Once again, we are proud to partner with Reggio Children to delve into the themes that ignite our curiosity and commitment to early childhood education. We welcome our esteemed colleagues Annalisa Rabotti, Romina D’Antonio, Samanta Gaspari, and interpreter Jane McCall from Reggio Emilia, Italy. Their insights will enrich our understanding of the values and principles that underpin the renowned municipal infant-toddler centers and preschools of Reggio Emilia. Our collaboration with Reggio Emilia emphasizes our shared mission to foster education’s promise through research and action. Together, we stand with and for children, families, and educators, recognizing their inherent agency and intelligence, especially during uncertain times.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who have worked tirelessly to bring this virtual event to fruition. We extend our gratitude to the community of Reggio Emilia, including Istituzione, Reggio Children, and the Loris Malaguzzi Foundation, for their unwavering commitment to prioritizing education on a global scale.

We understand that stepping away from your classrooms and families for professional learning can be a challenge. Your decision to invest in your growth and that of your community speaks volumes about your dedication to the children and families you serve. By participating in this virtual experience, you are embracing collaboration, ongoing learning, and the exchange of fresh ideas. This conference embodies the belief that when we come together, we can create significant change in the world.

As we embark on this journey together, let’s seize the opportunity to reflect on creating innovative, relational, and knowledge-building environments for young children.
