Teacher Learning Matters

A Nonprofit Fundraiser Supporting Teachers

Invest in Educators

Parents want the best for their children, especially when it comes to education. In North America, birth–5 educational services typically operate outside the K-12 public system. Not only does this mean parents pay directly for services, it also means there is no system of continuing education for teachers. NAREA’s ongoing efforts to support teachers’ professional learning has illuminated the gaps in funds that exist for early childhood teachers.

This fundraising campaign seeks to award as many teachers as possible a scholarship to a 2026 NAREA virtual conference, featuring educators from Reggio Emilia. North American teachers are motivated to learn. If you have a special heart for young children in our communities, please join us in affording their teachers the opportunity to keep growing professionally.

Our mission is to support increased access to professional learning in the philosophy and pedagogy of globally renowned Reggio Emilia, Italy. Over time, we have received more and more feedback from teachers who want to educate themselves through our conferences but lack the means to do so.

For every $350 raised in the 2025 campaign, NAREA will provide a scholarship for a virtual conference to an educator who otherwise could not attend. Do you know a preschool teacher? Make them feel valued with your support. Go one step further and nominate a recipient by emailing scholarship@reggioalliance.org.

When you donate to NAREA’s Teacher Learning Matters campaign, you are supporting the belief that the teaching profession requires permanent professional learning. The dedication and commitment of people like you enables us to continue to invest in teacher’s growth, following inspiration from Reggio Emilia.

“Meaningful, inspirational. It’s so important to work with bigger thinking as the educational system and dominant thinking is so instrumentalized. My work has been motivated
by change thinking and process-based practices for decades. I feel like I’ve met kindred spirits, and there is a place for my practice and the way
I think. So often people don’t understand me.
This is like coming home somehow.”

“What an incredibly inspiring conference!
My colleagues and I had such amazing conversations each day and are coming up with a variety of ways in which to share with our colleagues back at our center. Thank you for taking the time to address questions that everyone had but most of all, thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge.”

2023 Fall Conference Participant

“Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us, it was nothing short of inspiring. I cannot share how deeply I appreciate being able to learn and feel re-energized and excited
to continue in my practice.”

2023 Fall Conference Participant

“I have been in education for 40 years now and have never felt so inspired as I did after attending this conference! I wanted it to last longer and continue to hear you speak, watch your videos, and see the amazing work your children and teams are doing. Thank you!”

2024 Fall Conference Participant

“NAREA conferences continue to be the highest quality professional development opportunities I’ve experienced throughout my career. While key aspects of the philosophical underpinnings remain consistent, I find that different elements stand out or carry greater meaning depending on the current context and realities of where I am in my career. The relevance and reflection these conferences promote are unmatched. I wish this level of PD was the norm rather than the exception.”
