The director of our newest school must possess a strong educational philosophy based upon constructivist, child-focused, or Reggio-inspired perspectives. The ideal candidate will show a commitment to early childhood education and the ability to express empathy and understand the values of Our PlayHouse. Additionally they will not only be creative with new ideas in and out of the classroom, but will be able to understand and incorporate the perspectives and ideas of others with a spirit of collaboration. As the school ambassador, the Director will demonstrate an understanding of the program’s philosophy, culture, and practices, and have the ability to articulate this to new and prospective families. Enthusiasm and energy for the recruitment of new families is key to a new and growing program.
In addition, the Director should have or exhibit:
The ability to mentor and inspire others
The ability to grow a team of like-minded educators
The ability to create an environment that offers individualized and personalized learning
A love for working with children and families
A strong desire to create community within the school’s staff and families.
The ability to sustain the Our PlayHouse model through proven business and financial experience or a willingness to learn
The ability to discover and address problematic issues, and identify solutions.
Communicate and build positive relationships with current and prospective parents
Candidates should have a bachelor’s and ideally a master’s degree in early childhood education and at least one year of administrative experience, and at least three years of early childhood classroom experience. Compelling candidates lacking the above requirements but possessing unique teaching or educational backgrounds and experience will be considered.

Our PlayHouse Preschool is opening a project-based and child-focused private preschool in Lexington, Kentucky. Our curriculum is based on the tradition of the Reggio Emilia philosophy with a meaningful focus on play. We are seeking a Director of Education to help build our new school who will also be able to authentically share Our PlayHouse beliefs and philosophy with the community.
