The Apprentice Teacher positions are for candidates eager to participate in and learn through the development of a new academic program. Apprentice teachers help create and support classroom learning and school culture. Bennett Day School is looking for educators new to the profession who are deeply invested in a collaborative work environment where they will assist the lead teacher and also participate actively in the teaching and learning of the students. Apprentice Teachers at Bennett Day School are also responsible for the integration of technology in the classroom as a powerful tool for student learning and documenting the process. They will work in close collaboration with the lead teacher, TinkerLab Curator, and technology integrationist to develop and support best practices with technology and materials as it relates to the learning process. Apprentice Teachers should understand that teaching is dynamic and will work in tandem with the lead teacher to adapt and integrate this belief in the daily work in the classroom and school community.
Job Qualifications: Experience in early childhood classrooms Creative spirit Collaborative mindset; adept at working with teams and open to new ideas Experience with technology use and applications Adaptability Education Background: a Bachelor’s degree is required; early childhood coursework preferred Job Requirements: Physical strength to independently lift 10-15 lbs Fluency in written and oral English language. Ability to oversee and ensure the safety of children in and out of the classroom Job Specifications: Direct classroom work with children ages 3 to 5 years old Work collaboratively with lead teacher in all aspects of classroom life Recess and gross motor play supervision Support and model positive discipline Engage in professional development trainings, workshops and/or classes Individual student and group work documentation Implement family style eating Wednesday afternoon faculty meetings Friday afternoon professional development Participation in self-evaluation and reflection process Participation in MorningCare supervision Collaborative role in learning and supporting technology and material integration Support the process of documentation, including digital portfolios, and website management Hours: 7:30-3:30 M, W, TH; 7:30-4:30T; 7:30-5:00 F
