Congregation Beth Shalom, a vibrant, conservative synagogue located in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a talented, dedicated full-time Early Childhood Education Director. The Director will be expected to build on existing facets of our award-winning program that successfully provides children with the foundation necessary for Kindergarten and continuing Jewish education. Congregation Beth Shalom is committed to lifelong learning, instilling Jewish values and creating an active community.
The Early Childhood Education Director (ECED) will be responsible for the daily operations of the school including staff management, policy development and implementation, curriculum development, maintaining standards required for accreditation and the fiscal management of the program. The Early Childhood Department currently has 125 students ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The school operates from 7 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and provides pre-school based curriculum, before care and after care. The Early Childhood Education Director reports directly to the Head of Schools.

The practicum experience is co-teaching in a classroom and the responsibilities include teaching your assigned class (ages infants through prekindergarten), creating and maintaining a provocative environment rich in possibilities for learning, documenting work with children and adults for study, reflection and communication, participating in conferences, attending workshops and presentations, and consulting with colleagues to review and support your evolving philosophy of education, in addition to completing graduate level courses through the University of Colorado Denver. The Teacher Education Program is offered yearly in partnership with the University of Colorado Denver and the Colorado Department of Education.
