Spring Issue

NAREA is interested in Articles About:

• The experiences of educators, children, and families in educational communities inspired by the Reggio Emilia municipal educational project
• The ways in which educators and families have developed a better understanding of the learning processes of children and adults through their study of the Reggio Emilia Approach
• The challenges that educators have encountered as they work to become aware of their own educational values and those of their community as a result of their study of the experience of the Reggio Emilia municipal infant-toddler centers and preschools
• The interpretations within the spirit and philosophy of the approach
• Novel questions and concerns affecting Reggio-inspired education
• Reviews of books and publications coherent with Reggio Emilia inspiration

Possible topics include:

• The school as a place of innovation and research
• The value of participation of children, families, and educators in school
• The essential nature of ongoing professional development for educators
• The processes of observation, documentation, and interpretation in giving visibility to learning and relationships
• The role of the environment in learning and relationships
• The evolution of teacher education inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach
• The role of culture and community in education
• The value of inclusion of children with special rights and those from diverse cultural communities
• The use of materials and media as languages for expression and learning

1. Acknowledgment & Review

We confirm receipt of your submission via email. Articles are reviewed based on their contribution to the field, timeliness, originality, clarity, and cohesiveness. The review process typically takes 2–4 months.

2. Publication Decisions

After review, the editorial team will inform you of the possibility of publication. The spring issue is reviewed internally by the NAREA editorial team, without external peer review. Depending on how many submissions we receive, articles may be held for future issues.

3. Author Materials

Authors will submit a short bio, headshot, and photographic releases.

4. Editing & Preparation

We edit articles to ensure:

• Consistency
• Clarity (shortening passages, removing unnecessary words, or moderate rephrasing)
• Conciseness

Please note: occasionally, articles are adjusted to eliminate awkward spacing in the final layout process.

5. Final Review & Licensing

Prior to design, the edited draft is returned to the author for review. Authors sign the Innovations Periodical Publishing Agreement, granting NAREA an irrevocable, royalty-free license to publish and distribute the article in print or digital formats.
