Membership

Individual Membership

Selecting an Individual Membership in NAREA is the most common choice of NAREA supporters. Individual members receive every benefit of NAREA, including both a quarterly print version and access to the electronic version of the official NAREA periodical, Innovations in Early Education: The International Reggio Exchange, a quarterly periodical published by Wayne State University, College of Education.

All memberships are based on a January-December calendar year. Full-price memberships received in November and December will be forwarded to the next calendar year so that the member receives a full year of benefits. A half-year Individual Membership is available after June 1 at a reduced cost and includes two issues of the print edition of Innovations for U.S. members only.

U.S. Residents

U.S. residents receive all benefits listed below.

Student and Non-U.S. Residents

Students and non-U.S. residents receive all benefits listed below with the exception of the subscription to the print edition of Innovations. Non-U.S. residents can opt to receive the print edition of Innovations by contacting the editor, . and paying appropriate postage costs.

Individual Membership Benefits

 

  • Website created and maintained by NAREA to provide information, resources, and a forum for the exchange of ideas among individuals interested in the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, including a map of NAREA member schools. Members-only area includes documentation of experiences in schools, session notes from annual meeting and related conferences, membership directory, and selected previously published articles.
  • Subscription to print edition of Innovations.
  • Access to electronic edition of Innovations, posted quarterly in the members-only area of the NAREA website.
  • DVD/CD collection of images.
  • Annual conference focused on dialogue and exchange among members.
  • Fundamental Principles of the Reggio Approach spring workshops throughout North America.
  • Network of Regional Membership Coordinators facilitating local collaborations and communication among members.
  • Discounted registration for selected conferences, seminars, and program visitation days.
  • NAEYC conference sessions and meetings developed and organized by NAREA.
  • November membership drawing for one free study tour to Reggio Emilia annually. Does not include travel or personal expenses.
  • Annual meeting during NAEYC conference focusing on current issues in education with the support of educators from the schools of Reggio Emilia.
  • Discounted registration fee for North American study tours to Reggio Emilia.

 

Program Membership

Program Memberships are intended to support schools and organizations that wish to purchase multiple memberships at a reasonable cost. Program Memberships require a minimum of one Lead Membership, which entitles the school or organization to purchase unlimited Associate Memberships.

All memberships are based on a January-December calendar year. Half-year Program Memberships are not available. Full-price memberships received in November and December will be forwarded to the next calendar year so that the member receives a full year of benefits.

Lead Membership

Lead Members receive the following:

  • All Individual Membership benefits.
  • A second subscription to the print edition of Innovations.
  • A second DVD/CD collection of images.
  •  

    Associate Membership

    Associate Memberships offer NAREA membership at a reduced rate to staff and/or faculty members of schools and organizations that have purchased a NAREA Program Membership. Associate Memberships are not transferable. Associate Members receive the following:

    • All Individual Membership benefits with the exception of the subscription to the print edition of Innovations and the CD/DVD collection of images.
